Yet another of my old 1st edition WarZone models here, and yet again – finally completed – and with some modern touches and a modern base added. We have a Cybertronic Atilla III Cuirassier with a small conversion – the barrel end of his Assault rifle have been replaced with the multi-barrels of the SSW4200P HMG, cut off a Chasseur HMG gunner. As with about half of these old figures I’ve been showing and finishing so far, this one is still available from Prince August’s website.
Once again we have the Black and White of the nWo, as well as some other references to The Man Called Sting, who’s pre-Wolfpac outfit of the day fit in with my black-clad Cybertronic. (No, he’s not nWo Stong/Black Scorpion). Newer touches have included, erm, finishing the right shoulder and both legs, rebasing onto a “tech” 40mm, and of course the addition of the Iron Warriors Icon and the Legion’s “IV” badge to the left pauldron.
The nWo logo on the right Pauldron is original nWo-era freehand. Iron Warriors have no qualms about using War Servitors or fully robotic versions of AI, so while I’m not 100% what I can use this guy as in 40k, I’m sure I can find a unit entry that will work for him just fine.
Very nice – he kind of reminds me of the old Space Crusade chaos android!

Good spot – he is a bit reminiscent of that old proto-necron model. I think gave all of mine away, sadly.

Thank you – it’s a ripoff of Sting’s ripoff of Brandon Lee’s Crow makeup. 😉

Great stuff! I see this and I’m put in mind of these boys from Forge World, maybe that’s what you can field ’em as: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Mechanicum-Thallax-Cohort

Might be something there. I’d have to check the size (and see if I have another of these models.. not sure if I picked any more up during the WZ fire sales…)

I get sort of a Frankenstein’s Monster vibe from the face. Very cool look, and appropriate for a robotic/cybernetic construct!

Yeah, the underlying sculpt has quite a bit of that to it. I wonder if it was deliberate or just luck? Hard to tell with some of the old WarZone stuff!

I was thinking the same as Alexis… Frankenstein-ish a bit General Grievous too. Love it mate and for me it’s all about that face.

Yea, the face is definitely a stand out on the model. The whole thing has sort of an ape vibe going on….big eyes, small nose, hulking shoulders. I also liked the cyber brain thing. I probably would have painted that pinkish, like an exposed brain, but yours blends in better and you could still use him as either a cyborg or straight up robot. Nice work once again!

Yeah, he’s definitely got a simian thing going on with many of the proportions. I think the brain/head cables were an instance where I just assumed ribbing/cables and went with the usual metal look as I’m pretty sure that these were completely AI back in the WarZone game.

This mini is a good example how well you render black as a non-colour. I may imagine it, but I think I an make out different hues of black that delineate surfaces nicely. The freehands are as always a nice addition and I like the contrasting face colour. He looks indeed a tad simian. Planet of the Apes, only with androids?

Thank you – and yep there are some different blacks in there. If it were a modern minoiature started from scratch that sort of thing would probably be better, as I’ve got more knowledge/skill/paints/awareness of that sort of thing now, but back then I did try – often with hard/soft forms as we’ll see shortly. Planet of the Apes references always make me want to Lionel Hutz/Phil Hartman them – “The movie… or the planet?”
