Reaper Bones 77007: Ghost (Gender-Ambiguous March ’19)

Reaper Bones 77007: Ghost

After seeing Maenoferren22 over on Bogenwald post up his Reaper Bones Ghost the other day as part of the Gender-Ambiguous challenge, I realised that I had a pair of them myself sitting around on the painting desk, which I’d used as test models for the new(ish) “ghost” paints by GW, Hexwraith Flame and Nighthaunt Gloom – which both turned out to be a bit of a disaster.

So, the logical thing was to try and smash them both out quickly for the challenge (again, on the 30th of March). This was achieved by going onto YouTube and seeing what Warhammer TV said about painting Nighthaunt models. So I simply followed the simple instructions on the video, and in the process got both of these painted to a passable tabletop level and also learned a bit more about using these paints. Especially Nighthaunt Gloom. Basing was done in the same style as the rest of my Undead Models with gravestones on their bases, alongside the other Reaper Miniature, the Dragon Plant – also featuring a whole lot of flowers…

  1. Cool! I’ve got those paints too, but haven’t used them yet… I’ll have to take a look on YT – I’d love to re-do some old spirit hosts I have kicking around 🙂

    • Thanks mate!
To submit stuff, just post them up on your blog and then post a link to that post in the comments of that month’s “Challenge Announcement” post.

    • Cheers, Alexis – despite me faffing about with them initially (these were the first models I tried to do anything with that paint – well before the bits and pieces of terrain), they turned out to be quite simple in the end. The WHTV video shows just how easy they can be.

    • Nothing unus- I mean, not at all!
They’re a little taller than your average 28mm figure because of the floaties, though to the same scale. Maybe 40mm or so? Shed is locked up atm so I can’t measure right now, but that is about right.

      • bugger me that’s not much taller than what I do ! with all that amazing painting I would have thought they would have been like at least 10cm tall ,now I will appraise your work in a different mind . I feel I’ll have to put a bit more into my fig. painting from now on !! ,.

    • Thank you!
It’s more of an issue with the material that Reaper Bones are made of generally.
With these two new GW Technical paints, it’s because I had just slapped them onto the two models initially, but these are sort of like an intersection of paints and wash, so they behave a bit differently to either.
It’d be great to have you on board for a challenge or ten! 🙂

      • Count me in for sure! The new Reaper Black series seems to be a heck of a lot better with paints. I snagged an Owlbear and an Effrit recently, can’t wait to paint them!!!
