We’ve got the next few models from my finally-getting-completed DAK force today – if I wasn’t so behind in my posts and I was able to post things as I finished them, these might have had two distinct posts, but it ain’t so – and as a result you get a two-fer.
The first thing on show are four more “marker” models. This time they designate “run”. And as such, I used teeny models of widdle mans doing a run. Kawaii! amirite?
This leaves me with only four more to go. The final four were only started in their most basic form, and so I’ve done their bases and have yet to get started onto their proper paint. Then I’ll be done with that particular little side project of markers.
Next up we have a paif of Volkswagen Kübelwagen – which if you’re not familiar with them, were to the German forces of WWII what the Jeep was to the Allies.
I don’t fully remember what their use or role was/is in in Flames of War, something to do with officers or command or some such no doubt, but I also figure it’s not that important right now. Once I get the army painted, and maybe even an Opposing force for them, then I’ll worry about pointing out the army, learning to play again, all that sort of stuff…

All very nice! I like the Kubels! I can remember getting Kubels on their own little sprue with Nitto 1:72 Panzer IV and StuG kits, so I used ’em for HQ and OP vehicles in non-armoured units when I was a bit short of heavy field car models. 🙂

🙂 From memory these have some actual specific use in FoW armies. I just can’t remember what it is! The captured Universal Carriers might have been proxies for more of these in my old army, but they might have been used as scout vehicles. Man, it’s been a long time since I’ve FoW’ed!

Thanks Pete – yeah I added tracks to all of the vehicles I have based like this. Just thin putty on the base (which is neeed due to the metal bases the infantry have) and then pressing in with the road wheels or tracks to give it a visual path through the sand.

Excellent work on FoW (which is no surprise!). The more of these I see, the more I like the little details and scale of them. Your excellent painting is surely part of that 🙂

I remember seeing the civilian ones around when I was a kid, branded as “The Thing.” I thought they looked very cool and wanted one. Someone had one, that I used to see all the time driving over town, that was lime green. Good memories. 🙂
Nicely done miniatures and a good way to have markers that don’t make the display of the battle ugly like dubious bits of paper and suspiciously out of place tokens and bits of colored glass and dice tend to do.
