Zombicide 2nd Edition Abominations: Bearmanboar (Manbearpig) & Actual Cannibal (Shia LaBeouf)

Zombicide 2nd Edition Abominations: Bearmanboar (Manbearpig), Actual Cannibal (Shia LaBeouf)

It feels like a good while since I’ve completed any Zombicide models, so as part of Monster MayHem ’23, I’ve finally gotten this pair of models that have been sitting on the desk, part-painted for quite a few months now completed and so off the desk!

Zombicide 2nd Edition Abominations: Bearmanboar (Manbearpig)

Unlike many of the other Second Edition Abominations I’ve painted so far, these two aren’t based on folklore cryptids.

Both of these are pretty obviously based on pop culture IP/characters, as CMON loves to skirt legality with their *cough* homage models.

I mean, I enjoy them myself, but I’m also very aware of what they actually are…

First up we have the third of my Piggy-trilogy of miniatures (that I’m sure a certain Guru has been enjoying) the Manbearpig. I mean Bearmanboar. Totes different, right?

I went for the overall “cleaner” version of Manbearpig over the very bloody version, since I wanted to preserve my skin tones.

Zombicide 2nd Edition Abominations: Actual Cannibal (Shia LaBeouf)

The second of these totally-original creations I’m sharing today is the Actual Cannibal.

Zombicide 2nd Edition Abominations: Actual Cannibal (Shia LaBeouf)

Also known as Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf.

Which is an actual thing.

For some reason.

Unfortunately, Shia’s skin tone has come out a bit flat in the photos, but I’ll rest easy enough knowing it looks fine in hand. He’s actually a bit bigger than you’d expect, which you’ll see in the image with Berkeley below…

While Zombicide 2nd Edition does have several “traditional” Abominations in the set – that is to say – giant muscular and nasty looking zombies – I do like the way that they leaned into various cryptids for a bit of a different flavour to these stretch goals. It certainly gives you more of an interesting variety of models to paint.

And they’ll be easy enough to showhorn into our 1st Edition games as well once we get back to the Zombicide campaign… I guess in June I probably need to get back to the zombies… 😮

  1. Fantastic work on both mate, I knew of werebear and wereboar from folklore, but not a mix of both, but then find it hard to find information from Native American folklore on skinwalkers, which was there form of were creatures. I think the amount of blood splatter you’ve gone for looks good and still allows to see all the hard work you’ve put into the skintones.

  2. I wouldn’t have known the inspiration for either of these if you hadn’t explained it so thank you for that! I think they both came out well and will look great in your games. As always your productivity during these challenges is inspiring to behold as well.

    • I think Berkeley will still come out on top. She has Plot Armour! 😉
As for the source material, the first is just good old South Park, and the other…. well I’m still not entirely sure what it is… art…?

  3. Never been a big Shia fan, so the Actual Cannibal reference had me wondering if he had taken an even bigger tumble!? The flesh tones and the denim look great. The flesh on the pig part looks especially good, not just as “flesh” but as actual pig skin, which is awesome! 😀

    • To be honest, I don’t know much about Shia at all. I know he was in the first Michael Bay Transformers movie opposite an oiled-up Megan Fox draped all over Bumblebee (and pprobably/possibly some other Transformers flicks in that series). He was also in a music video for Sia, hanging off a cage and performance-fighting the Sia-girl. And then he’s in Actual Cannibal. /shrug

Thanks for the kind words on Manbearpig. I did try to do something a bit different with his flesh tones, so good to hear it worked! 😀

      • The closest analogy is could make is a younger less successful Russel Crowe. He was thrust into the spotlight as new up and coming star, but I don’t think he had the talent or the ability to handle that pressure. Yep, he was in Transformers, a Raiders of the Lost Ark movie and others. Unlike Crowe, I can’t point to a film of Shia’s that I actually liked.

      • Just looked him up on Wikipedia – if its reasonably accurate he’s had a messy life that I don’t especially envy. Not that my early life was smooth sailing, but we don’t need to go into that here! 😮
I guess I need to watch the Indiana Jones Trilogy (and the other one) so I can be fresh for the newest one in the near future…
