Wargame Forge 3D Prints: Gothic Shrine – Intact/Ruined/Destroyed versions

Wargame Forge 3D Prints: Gothic Shrine - Intact

Another post of paid-for STL buildings from Wargame Forge on MyMiniFactory today. Today it’s the Gothic Shrine, as usual including the Damaged and Ruined versions as well.

I’ve gone for the verdigris-inspired turquiose for the domed roof again. I think it works nicely with the sandstone-ish yellowed buildings, so expect to see it continue whenever I have more of these. Not sure yet how I’ll do these domes when I’m painting grey versions of the buildings, but that’s a tomorrow problem! Thanks to Marouda for doing the tedious job of masking the dome off as well!

The damaged version of the model looks pretty good to me as well. Lots of space for infantry to hang around and shoot out of that exposed upper level.

Of course, hanging about in the upper floors of a recently damaged building might not always be the best plan as the next stage might have the building flattened with you taking a rapid fall with it! This one also has the look of somewhat-cleared ruins to it, as I’m not sure how much of the floor you’d rightfully expect to see once a multi-storey shrine with a big blue roof came down, but as always – gameplay abstraction!

Once again – scale shot for the win here. Still haven’t managed to play Alpha Strike. It might have even happened today if not for the 2 hours on the phone getting the internet issues sorted out. Turns out we have a dead Modem/Router and a new one will take a few days to get here, so it’s phone hotspot-a-go-go for a little while. I’m sure setting up the new one will be completely smooth with no issues or unforseen technical problems!

Today we have more all paid-for STL buildings from Wargame Forge on MyMiniFactory. This time it’s one of the Adeptus Legions-styled models in all three configurations – intact, damaged and destroyed.

Basically, an L-shaped apartment block-type building. As per usual, I printed two of these, mirroring one of them to add in a little bit of variation.

While there wasn’t a lot to look at for the undamaged versions, the damaged versions offer a bit more visual interest from different angles. What’s that? L-shaped ruins? Must be a 40k post!

So depending on how they’re aligned (if not used to swap out for the undamaged versions) they can have quite different looks on the tabletop.

I also found that if I place the two of these together – as in our first photo of the undamaged versions up top – we end up with quite the visual!

The destroyed versions hardly demand multiple angles, of course – but what a difference between damaged and destroyed! These destroyed ones obnviously work for any buildings with the same footprint, so expect to see more of these one day down the line.

I always enjoy these scale shots of groups of buildings. Well, not setting them up so much – but looking at them afterwards. I really need to get more Battletech Mechs and Legions Imperalis models painted.

We had planned to (finally) have a game of Alpha Strike a week or so ago, but a “simple” couple of print assembly jobs ended up getting stretched over more than a week due to all the little hiccups (need to reprint this piece, forgot to print that piece, I need to make a custom part here or there – and most frustrating – waiting for the glue to dry! New plan is to clean up the table (again) and get a tabletop game or two in this weekend and maybe even some photos – wish us luck!
