Wargame Forge 3D Prints: Gothic Building 119 – Intact & Ruined + Gothic Large Domed Rooftop 9

Wargame Forge 3D Prints: Gothic Building 119 + Gothic Large Domed Rooftop 9

After another break of a couple of weeks for various reasons, I’m back again with a couple more paid-for STL buildings from Wargame Forge on MyMiniFactory.

Gothic Building 119” is simply a square slab that’s 4 and a half stories tall. pretty straightforward there.

Gothic Large Domed Rooftop 9 is what makes it a bit more interesting than the regular stuff I’ve been posting in my series of Epic scale buildings. Much like the internet is a series of tubes, this piece is a building “topper” that’s made up of a series of squared domes. I did the usual for my “sandstone”-ish buildings and painted the rooftop domes in an aqua-teal to be somewhat reminiscent of copper verdigris rooftops.

It can obviously be placed on top of any building with this footprint. I’ve got a few more ones that fit in both printed-and-waiting and unprinted-STL form which I will possibly get around to before the Sun’s expansion destroys the Earth or when I can convince Marouda to help me paint them, depending on which comes first.

As per usual, I also painted up the fucked-up version of the building. More politely referred to as “Gothic Ruined Building 119“.

Painting all of those interior walls and floors and doorways different colours before weathering was just as tedious as it looks. I know Kuribo can appreciate that sort of pointless work!

Unfortunately, there’s no form of damaged dome-rooftop for aesthetic gameplay purposes, so I guess in the event that it gets damaged in-game we would really be in the situation of blowing the roof off this place!

And here the pieces are together, along with a few Legions Imperialis and Battletech models for scale purposes. One thing I didn’t mention is that I also painted the “destroyed” version of this piece – basically the pancaked version, but somehow it went missing in between varnishing and needing to take photos and it has not yet resurfaced, over a month later. Pissed me off, causing the delay in writing up this post and generally working on the blog by extension. I’ve printed a replacement, but now I need to repaint that fucker up, which as you may have guessed by my tone here, I’m not super enthused about still.

Another post of paid-for STL buildings from Wargame Forge on MyMiniFactory today. Today it’s the Gothic Shrine, as usual including the Damaged and Ruined versions as well.

I’ve gone for the verdigris-inspired turquiose for the domed roof again. I think it works nicely with the sandstone-ish yellowed buildings, so expect to see it continue whenever I have more of these. Not sure yet how I’ll do these domes when I’m painting grey versions of the buildings, but that’s a tomorrow problem! Thanks to Marouda for doing the tedious job of masking the dome off as well!

The damaged version of the model looks pretty good to me as well. Lots of space for infantry to hang around and shoot out of that exposed upper level.

Of course, hanging about in the upper floors of a recently damaged building might not always be the best plan as the next stage might have the building flattened with you taking a rapid fall with it! This one also has the look of somewhat-cleared ruins to it, as I’m not sure how much of the floor you’d rightfully expect to see once a multi-storey shrine with a big blue roof came down, but as always – gameplay abstraction!

Once again – scale shot for the win here. Still haven’t managed to play Alpha Strike. It might have even happened today if not for the 2 hours on the phone getting the internet issues sorted out. Turns out we have a dead Modem/Router and a new one will take a few days to get here, so it’s phone hotspot-a-go-go for a little while. I’m sure setting up the new one will be completely smooth with no issues or unforseen technical problems!
