Another dramatic lurch to another game and set of figures sadly neglected for quite some time – I’ve finally completed both Cersei and Tyrion after having them on the painting desk for well over a year!
Basically, I wanted to paint in some nice little freehand patterns on Cersei’s dress, but I also couldn’t be bothered to figure out what kind and then actually do it – so as with so many other models, these two got shoved out of the way to the side and then forgotten about in favour of more interesting models.
With this pair finished, I can either try to finish off The Mountain, or a whole bunch of Stark Sworn Swords next for our ASOIAF collection. More Mountain’s Men? Sure, all of those would be nice, but one has to come before the others.

Fantastic work on both characters, and the pattern detail is sublime.

Nice work.
The pattern on the dress is very impressive! Don’t know where I’d even begin with something like that, unless it was sculpted onto the model so I could just add the colour. Very impressive.

Cheers Frank. I find it’s easier to freehand these things since it’s easier than tracing the sculpted ones sometimes. As for the patterns it’s just swirly lines!

I love the freehand on Cersei, mate! I prefer a flat surface when I can get it so I really applaud you for going for the freehand with the many wrinkles in her dress. Best of all, these two scream Lannister so I think you pretty much nailed ’em 🙂

Thanks mate – I won’t say they weren’t a headache, but Cersei’s dress just seemed a bit plain without any extra decoration. I also have the sculpt of her on the stairs to paint one day, so we’ll have to wait and see what that one is like. I don’t look forward to trying to paint patterns around a staircase and Lannister bannister, so that version may well be a lot plainer!

I know what you mean. That is something I’ve noticed with female miniatures in dresses. They need some kind of extra oomph to make them look nice but it isn’t easy to accomplish. As for those other two minis waiting in the wings, those do sound like an even greater challenge…

Yeah, she’s not high on the priority list I have to say, as the other figures would be mechanically identical to this one (an alt figure) and I’ve got a lot more to paint that will be a lot easier to do!

Really nice minis! 🙂 I’ve only ever watched Season 1 of Game of Thrones so I at least know who the characters are!

Cheers, John. I’ve gotten up to Season 2 (which was very good still) but paused to watch House of the Dragon where I stalled out in that Season 2 about a year ago. 😮

Lovely job on both of them. I did think about adding some swirls and so on to my version of Cersei but then I decided that maybe she’d have some plainer dresses for those quiet days when she’s just scheming at home, rather than going out to scheme in high society (or to put it differently, I bottled it!).

Haha – as it happens your version of Cersei was one of my guide images as I worked my way through the overall scheme, followed by someone on reddit who I stole the swirly idea from!
