Yes, it’s General Veers! What’s going on here of course is that we have both the 1st Edition model of Veers cast in PVC alongside the fairly new 2nd Edition Veers in HIPS plastic. Since I already had the older model but had picked up the new one, I decided to paint them together – along with The Desert General seen in my previous post.
Quite a difference between the two, eh? I can only assume that the original was an earlier sculpt in the range, as he very much has the same kind of overly “heroic scale” proportions and feel that some of the older, chunky Imperial Guard have, while the new version is much more leaning towards proportions approaching truescale – along with a much more refined pose!
As far as painting goes, all of these Veers and Veers-Adjacent models were painted using AK 3rd Gen 11154 Field Grey as the base for their green uniforms, highlighted through AK111323 RAL6040 F9 Helloliv and into AK11352 IDF Modern Grey. The armour plates are AK11133 Dark Green Grey/AK11167Anthracite Grey into AK11356 SLA Blue and then AK11011 Grey Blue. And now I can come back and check these later! 😀
New Veers kind of looks like he’s sending Old Veers off to chase down some Rebels, doesn’t he? What will I use all of these very similar General models for in the game? Not sure, yet, but it’s also really not a worry for me. I’m here just as much (or more) for the painting as I am for the gaming at this point!
See you tomorrow with another post of May’s models!
