Fabricator’s Lair 3D Prints: Epic-Scale Grimdark (damaged) Gothic Building

Epic Sector : Sanctuary. Fabricator's Lair 3D Prints: Epic-Scale Grimdark (damaged) Gothic Building

Today I have yet another 3D printed Epic Scale building. This time, though it’s a paid one rather than a free STL. I picked this one up from Fabricator’s Lair on MyMiniFactory. This building comes from the Epic Scale Grimdark Gothinc Buildings Set #1 (try saying that five times fast!) but I actually purchased it as part of the Epic Sector: Sanctuary bundle – kind of like a buy-in Kickstarter thing as it contains a number of premade builds as well as literally hundreds of other elements, from road sections to bridges, premade buildings, modular buildings, scatter terrain and basically tons more. Basically, an incredible value – and nope – I didn’t get these for free and have no affiliation with the sculptor. I actually found these when I was looking for free buildings using Google and Yeggi, saw the images of some of the larger “government” type buildings, saw that someone was selling them on eBay as prints for quite a decent sum, then spent some time using GIS/Google Lens to eventually find where they came from, before purchasing the bundle.

I’ve got quite a fair few more of these prints that I still need to clean up and then paint. As I’ve mentioned, Flippy Never Sleeps and so the production happens faster than I can paint anything as it is, but the clean up is the tricksy part to be honest. The details on these buildings lend themselves well to looking good easily with fast techniques, which I’m definitely a fan of. The sculptor has just finished another campaign, Epic Sector: Industry which can also be picked up as a MMF purchase (and I paid for that oen myself, also). I’ve only run the little free test building from that one so far, but it seemed to be a cleaner FDM print so cleanup on those should be much faster!

I’ve now added in this comparison shot with a few stompy robots and tiny tanks and little mans so that you can see how this one is SO much bigger than all of the others I’ve shown so far. One day I should actually get some painted models finished to place alongside these buildings!

Wargame Forge 3D Prints: Free Gothic Building Test

Wargame Forge 3D Prints: Free Gothic Building Test

Another pair of 3d prints for today’s post – we have a couple more free STLs, this time from Wargame Forge over on MyMiniFactory. This time we have the Gothic Building Test, which comes in quite a few variations. I initially printed and painted the damaged version without rubble skirt or either of the hex tile versions. It came up pretty well overall.

A few weeks later, I printed the undamaged version using the new Fat Dragon Games terrain settings for my printer and tried to match the paint to the first version. The print was a ton faster, but the layer lines came out much more obvious than the setting I’d used for the ruin. Since I’m not printing terrain for a store or to run a tournament, I’ll just take the extra time they take for a slightly better eventual outcome. Flippy never sleeps anyway!

I do like Wargame Forge’s building style and models as they’re simple and straightforward – they have a 40k look but not too extreme, so they would still work decently for other games such as Battletech, etc, but they’re a little pricey, especially given how quickly they add up for minor variations such as essentially the same model with an additional floor making for an addiitonal STL requiring an additional purchase. The bespoke buildings are a much better deal IMO as there’s a bit more to them. I may pick up a few of each when there’s a half-price Black Friday sale or something similar, but in the meantime I’ve got plenty more to print!
