Plasticville USA: O Scale Water Tower #45978

Plasticville USA: O Scale Water Tower #45978

Something else purchased awhile back for my Crisis Protocol games, we have some O Scale train terrain – apparently O Scale is roughly the same as 1:48, and I’ve seen people talk about using O Scale buildings and such for MCP. Since a lot of the better stuff either isn’t available here in Australia or is prohibitively expensive to purchase from the U.S., I picked up a few kits via Amazon that were affordable, although for way more than American shoppers. The first of these is this Water Tower. made of de-sprued HIPS plastic, this kit was simple to assemble, didn’t assemble properly anyway (that ladder is not straight) but such a background piece that I decided that IDGAF. I did texture the concrete by stippling with “AK Easy Cast” texture medium which helped a bit. Pretty simple job with a few layers of drybrushing and washing. I cut away the spout and added a couple of extra pipes made from sprue since I envision this piece being something I might just as easily stick on top of a building or amidst an Industrial sector as in a field since this thing can work reasonably well from any setting from WWII to Modern to Post-Apoc and Fallout-alikes – which is why I’m skipping any form of signage.

The Ariele and Tony Storch minis are here to provide us with scale for 32mm and 40mm. Size 3 for MCP, you reckon?

One more post to go for the February stuff and the final models for Dave Stone’s Paint what You Got challenge. Which this is also a submission for…

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Iron Man

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Iron Man

Today’s model is one of the final ̶t̶h̶r̶e̶e̶ four from the Crisis Protocol Core Set – Iron Man!

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Iron Man

As with the Marvel Zombies model shown last, this model was painted by first painting, preshading and pre-highlighting the gold and then going over it with a “gel” paint – in this case I didn’t use Spiritstone Red at all and instead overpainted the model entirely with “Citadel’s Technical Blood For The Blood God” paint – giving a deeper red from the get-go than the Spiritstone Red used in the Marvel Zombies model.

While in some cases I’m going to be attempting some consistency between superhero and villain models in terms of exact colours and schemes – even across our various miniatures games (Crisis Protocol, Marvel Zombies & Marvel United) I’m also ok with having some variation – just look at how many unique suits of Iron Man armour Tony has had across the comics and/or films. I feel that I’ll need to be more concerned with consistency for skin tones on models like Hulk or Drax or Gamora, though I’m aware that even that is me being more OCD than I need to..

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Iron Man

While once again, the use of transparent gel paints doesn’t leave us with the most photogenic model in terms of what I’m able to do with close-up internet photos – it does however jive well with my larger scale Iron Mans – in this case my Hot Toys MK.III – they look very much birds of a feather, so I’m quite happy with the outcome – especially for our games table.

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Iron Man

Again, this model is another one down for Dave Stone’s current Paint what You Got challenge. I’ll likely be posting things up for a few days into March to wrap up now that the weather has dropped a little and I’m finally getting some posts written. There’s now only three Core Set models left to go – Captain USA, Doctor Octopussy and Man-Spidey. Hoping to have one more of those fully completed before February ends, and then hopefully the last two in March…  ?
