Marvel Zombies: Luke Cage – Hero Version and Zombie Version (Weekend of Cage!)

Marvel Zombies: Luke Cage - Hero Version and Zombie Version

Today we kick off what I’m calling The Weekend of Cage with this pair of models from Marvel Zombies – we have both of the versions of The Artist Formerly Known As Power Man from the Kickstarter’s many extras.

Marvel Zombies: Luke Cage - Hero Version and Zombie Version

As a kid, I had a single issue of Power Man and Iron Fist that someone had randomly given me, but I never liked the comic nor the characters. I mean, not too surprising for a little kid because, they weren’t Donald Duck or Spider-Man or Archie, so, y’know… I still don’t know much about Luke Cage these days, but I do know he no longer goes by the Power Man moniker and he was on Netflix for a time. Iron Fist doesn’t feature in the Marvel Zombies game, but he does have a little cameo here…

As with the other Marvel Zombies figures, these two are also from a Zombie Game so they should therefore qualify for Dave Stone’s Apocalypse Me 2023 challenge as well.

    • “Sweet Christmas!” is something Luke used to say in the books. Power Man & Iron Fist are two characters I’ve really enjoyed. They just go together like peanut butter and battery acid. They are so different, but at the same time they just work. Unfortunately, the comic was miss most of the times, so I’m not surprised you didn’t like the issue you found. But the few times they got the right artist team on them, it was really good. Also it sucked that they messed up Iron First, then split them up, tried to them back, and it’s such a convoluted mess…that I just can’t really go back. As they say, that ship has sailed!

      • Yep I read up on the “sweet sister/Christmas/sweet Christmas” thing after your comment.
As for how much I was going to enjoy that comic as a small child I think a lot of Marvel’s roster would have met the same lack of engagement from me at the time.
I’m painting Iron Fist(s) now so I can enjoy them as paired characters in the tabletop games even if I’ve never really read their comics or even watched any of their Netflix series’ 😄

      • I started with Daredevil some time ago but I found that the sheer amount of uninteresting and drawn out talking between Matt, Foggy and the girl just bored me out of continuing to watch.

At this point I’ve just largely lost interest in the MCU since it’s pretty much been a mixture of underwhelming and just bad since Endgame. I still haven’t even watched Guardians 3 which I understand is actually pretty decent.

      • Yea, Daredevil does have a lot of drama (speaking), like the comics. It does have some amazing action scenes, like the all in one take hallway fight. I guess you kind of have to be a cinema/drama fan to really like the show. I’m still not sure how the Disney DD series will be, but I have my fingers crossed!

  1. Here’s a question I’m pondering. How does the man with unbreakable skin end up as a zombie!? I’m sure there’s a rationale in a comic book on that somewhere but it certainly got me thinking 🙂 Mr. Cage is a great “street-level” hero and so he compliments Jessica Jones and Daredevil well. Between those two, he’s pretty level-headed so its cool to see him looking like a hero here too.
