Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion: Toxic Runners Pt.1 (Wanna be a Zombie?)

Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion: Toxic Runners

Back in October, I posted asking if any of the regular readers would like to be immortalised (in a form) on tabletop by nominating a t-shirt for me to paint on a zombie to (sorta) represent them. Obviously if this post is a thing, then I got some takers – so here’s the first batch of them!

First up we have Dave Stone in the Deadpool singlet, John from Justneedsvarnish in the Chihuahua t-shirt, and Pete S /SP in the Slayer T-shirt.

These models were finished back in November, so I’m doing the daily catch-up posts for a bit so we can get to February.

The next three models down our zombie-catwalk are Templeofthutmos representing St.Louis, Guru PIG in his Western Bulldogs jersey (stylised dog included!) and Faust rocking the Nirvana Smiley singlet. (Marouda actually owns that same T-shirt)

I still have another batch of these to get finished, so if you offered a suggestion but don’t see your zombified self here, don’t worry – it’s still coming!

And that’s it not only for today’s post, but for November 2023’s models. I’ll have a belated round-up for the month that was tomorrow sometime…

    • Thanks Dave – I’ll be able to have the extra satisfaction of killing you all off as we blast zombies off the table!

I mean.. it’s a bit of fun to represent you guys in some small way on the tabletop. I’ve just finished the second batch of these guys a few days ago, so they’ll be posted up shortly.

When I have the next batch of t-shirt-friendly models, I’ll do another round of shirt requests as well! 🙂

  1. That’s awesome! Though truthfully, I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Nirvana tshirt! I know it’s against popular opinion now, but I really felt like their popularity was way overrated in the 90s. But they helped the whole alternative movement take off, which gave us lots of great music! 😃

    • I liked them from the first time I heard them, but I’ve always liked guitar music and fucked up music, so they worked well for me overall. Now you’ve made me think of Daisy Chainsaw! 😀

      • Smells like Teen Spirit hit hard when it came out. But I couldn’t listen to their albums straight through. I was more into Faith No More, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, etc. But I’d take Nirvana over just about anything released today!! 😂

  2. Faust speaks for me on Nirvana being overrated! 🙂 I’m ever so slightly too young to fully appreciate grunge in its heyday though so that might be part of the reason why I have that opinion. Setting music aside, I love these and applaud the effort you put into them. Some of them look like they would have taken a fair bit of time to knock out but the effort is well worth it! And of course, I’m excited to see my idea when you get around to it 😀

    • I dunno. Maybe you needed to “be there”? Though Teen Spirit has amusingly become a radio classic through the passage of time.

A few days ago I finally completed batch #2 of these, and Kirby is amongst them. I have to say it didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped due to the canvas size (and wrinkles) so I may give it a second go once I have more t-shirt-wearing-zombies to paint, though I’d also be happy for a new submission in addition! I should have them all up in a few days with luck…

      • I completely agree. Smells Like Teen Spirit has become bigger as time passes. I don’t think their other songs have experienced the same growth in popularity, though I could be wrong!

I definitely gave you a challenge with Kirby, though not intentionally. I was trying to think of a video game character that would be on the simpler side. I’m looking forward to seeing what you came up with and I commend you for taking on a fairly tough subject 🙂

      • Kirby wasn’t really the trouble so much as making all of the circles work on one of those wrinkly small tank tops – in retrospect I should have used one of the t-shirted zombies which would have been far easiser!

Teen Spirit is just one of those cultural phenomenon level songs that puts it so far of the rest of their (and most) songs!
