Into March’s models today – we start with a pair of models that I’d hoped to finish in February for Fembruary, but instead they’ve been completed this month instead. (FeMarch?) I have to admit – at first I thought the Betty Ross was actually Moira MacTaggart, but apparently not. It’s actually Arwen instead.
There’s nothing too special to write about either of these models really – they’re both just pretty well sculpted human civilian models that happen to be of Marvel characters. They’re both “bystanders” for the Zombies game, much like Howard and Blind Al who I’ve painted previously that confer bonuses if they’re rescued/eaten (depending on whether you’re playing Hero or Zombie mode)
Longer-term, I’ll get around to making custom survivor cards for all of these “Bystander” characters (as well as the Cthulhu Death May Die characters and Last Night on Earth ones), since the Bystanders in Marvel Zombies aren’t really much more than tokens that get removed quickly when saved or eaten, so it’ll make them more fun to be characters that we can actually play with, even if it’s only in regular Zombicide (because Mary-Jane with a machete and pistol still might not scale all that well next to Hulk or Thor…)
Excellent work on both mate, and I think these are very versatile models, as they could be used in so many different settings, I also really like your ideas to give them even more options with proper stat cards, and giving them bigger roles.

Thanks mate. I just need to figure out how best to edit the blank character templates from Zombicide and I’ll be able to get started. Naturally, they use some obscure paid fonts as well so I need to decide whether to spend the money or just go with good enough.

Thanks mate! I’ve quite enjoyed just painting some civilian-type figures – especially ones that don’t have zombified counterparts!

we may have to re-think your founding membership of the ZPF (Zombie Painting Society)!

I’m sure it’ll be fine. After all, these ARE Zombicide models…. 😅

Those look great. Really like Mary Jane, and the pants look great. Betty confuses me, she looks like she’s in a lab coat and carrying a clipboard with a nuclear symbol on it? She was a secretary/office worker at the Daily Bugle, unless that changed? I can see why you would think she’s Moira, I probably would have thought the same.

Yeah. I was never a Hulk reader so I can’t say I’ve ever known a lot about Betty outside of the proto-MCU film where Arwen tries (and fails) to emote – and yeah I was calling the model Moira right up until I was checking for paint scheme reference (after cleaning and priming the figure) and had a real “Oh!” moment there.

Oh man, my mistake…”Betty Ross”! I was thinking “Betty Brant” from Spider-Man, who has a similar haircut. That all makes sense now!

Well, I don’t know Betty Brant at all, but I did at least find a Moira figure in the X-Men core box!

Oh cool. Looking forward to seeing that one too!
This was Betty in the 2002 Spidey film (minor part): https://www.themarysue.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/5af914252ef81579b5dea1304be62420.jpg?resize=480%2C270

These both look great and Mary Jane is instantly recognizable. The basing on Betty looks very nice too.
I Google’d Betty Ross and was pleasantly surprised that my suspicion was correct that she is related to Hulk. I assume that is why she’s carrying that case around too. Apparently Betty was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby so she’s a venerable one at that!

Thanks, Tiger!
It’s funny that Betty doesn’t have a “B” sirname given the love of alliteration that those guys had back then for just about everyone that thery created!
I guess Betty Boop was already taken!

Yeah, it’s got Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in it as well – though I’ve been trying to avoid spoilers beyond that!

Nice painting. Civilian figures like that are always useful regardless of their origin.
Cheers,
