Today’s 3D printed buildings are a few more Epic Scale pieces from Fabricator’s Lair on MyMiniFactory. They can be found in the Epic Sector: Industry bundle which is basically the bundle from their second Epic-Scale Kickstarter held some time ago. They can also be found in a very affordable $10 building pack with several other buildings. Nope, I’m not paid nor did I get these for free – I just believe in supporting artists who provide their work at a very reasonable price.
It’s been a bit of time since I’ve had the opportunity to get any photography done, so when I finally had the chance earlier this evening I took the time to do so, with Marouda assisting as she often does. As you can see above, the ruined cooling tower is pretty cool. I painted these pretty traditionally with acrylics and then as I wanted to show off that lovely cracked and pitted detail in the damaged tower, these two pieces also got to participate in that big old Oil Wash fest we had some time ago – yes, these have been painted for bloody ages now! They’re just so big that they don’t play well with my light box on their own – let alone in a pair. This is the main reason for the long delay in model terrain showings-off.
I really need to get some modern stuff painted to use to showcase this sort of thing, but as you can see with these 15mm WWII Finns – while out of scale, they still “work” ok in the wonky-scale context of our wargames.
Taking that to the next level again, this collection of Men in Iron Armour show how the towers also work as more generic industrial chimneys/sci-fi cooling towers in the more usual 28-32-40mm scales that we toy soldier enjoyers so often play in.
Once again, these models count for Dave Stone’s Season of Scenery ’25.

Those are some hefty smoke stacks! They came out really nicely and I like the variety of having an undamaged and damaged one too. You never know when that might be handy!

Thanks mate – these are clearly based on those massive cooling towers that you see in Nuclear Power Plants, so the size makes sense there – of course, being STL files you can make them even bigger – or obviously a hell of a lot smaller as well.
