Zombicide 1st Edition: Zombie Walkers, Part 3 – Punks N̶o̶t̶ Dead

Zombicide 1st Edition: Zombie Walkers, Punks

It’s been a very long time since I touched my 1st Edition Zombicide walkers. I actually forgot I had more of them and thought I’d painted them all, but alas – there are still four more sculpts to go through – well, three now – and a few leftover suits & shirts I wanted to do some other things with.

Since these are just basic walkers, I forced myself not go to town with extra details like tattoos on these models – these figures do add a lot to the game, but at the same time that really don’t get looked at all that carefully on the tabletop when you’re spawning them 2 or 6 at a time! No angry, entitled, “I should have won Golden Demon YouTube Video “coming here! These are tabletop gaming fodder. Their job is to look good at a distance of 1-3 feet, and I think they do that well.

I’ve got a few days off work now with a long weekend, and a ton of bullshit to wade through aside from hobby-related things, but I’ll try to get posts up as frequently as possible since I’ve actually finished a fair few models I need to get posted up for Dave Stone’s Apocalypse Me challenge from October -and more!

A Battlefield of Ice and Fire (3D Prints)

Another set of 3d prints today – in fact these are the first pieces of terrain I started with from the printer, and also the first ones I finished at the start of the month. I needed a bit of space to lay them out on the table for the photos and then some time to do the cropping and so forth, so here we are now!

I found these online on Thingiverse via Reddit from a designer names TwoRoads – I printed a couple of each type of wall, the palisades, and the two heights of hedges that I found in the set, using the mirror function to vary them a little. One set of walls I painted as what I thought of as “field stones” while the other is painted in more of the standard “grey granite bricks” style.

Both wall set come with an unbroken and a broken style. Since I’m not looking to cover a table with these walls I only printed two of each, mirroring for variety.

Two heights of hedges, so as noted, I again mirrored each of them and printed one of each of the now-four variations.

I did two of each of the palisades – not that they look particularly different. I didn’t vary the cheval de frise so that they would all “fit” together side-by-side. Painting all those ropes was a right pain in the arse, but the finished effect is certainly good enough to pass the tabletop-distance test.

Not actually having any ASOIAF TMG models painted when I took these photos, I used some of my Lord of the Rings/Middle Earth models in their stead, on the unit trays that we use for Kings of War.

Much nicer than the card templates, I’m sure you’ll agree! They’ll also work well as generic scenery pieces in any number of other games across a variety of genres.

You can see how these terrain pieces fit perfectly over the terrain templates to allow for units moving through them when needed.

While these would have been a shoo-in for Season of Scenery if I’d finished them in time, Dave has said that the War of the Five Kings may be suitable for the Apocalypse Me painting challenge of almost-over October – though they’re certainly an edge case!

Pandemic Boartd Game Research Station STL Prints

oh, and on that note, I also printed these cute little research stations by LoKiki56 for the Board Game Pandemic as board game upgrades! I added a little extra paint to make them pop!
