December of Zombies: Zombicide 1st Edition: Zombie Walkers, Part 2 – More Suits

Zombicide 1st Edition: Zombie Walkers in suits

We humans are very much creatures of habit. In November and then December, I got out of the habit of posting regularly. On the other hand, I kept busy with the painting aspect of the hobby. I painted rather a lot of models for Zombicide, which I’m going to post up over the next however many days. I’ll be doing them in more condensed form – these Zombicide walkers for example would probably have been posted across three individual posts as I finished each batch. Lucky you – you get them all at once!

Five batches of five zombies each in their own suit colour. Not for any particular gameplay reason, just to keep them looking a bit less uniform when in a horde. These first five were done in a “warm stone” colour.

And the next five in a “silver” blue-grey. I’d write more here, but what is there really to say?

The next batch are in a lighter, slightly richer blue than the previous set of zombies in blue suits.

And then we have five zombies in lighter tan suits to give a bit of variety (though it seems less so with the warm stone ones in the same set).

And lastly for now with these five in a darker grey – though this grey is still lighter than the original set of five..

And here we are – a pretty decent little horde of the undead for Zombicide and whenever we get around to something like Days Gone. Of course, we’d need some urban terrain to play something like that properly, so…

I still have a further 13 of these sculpts to go, but I’m going to do them a little differently. A couple of blue shirts for retail workers, a couple of GW redshirts perhaps, a couple of (formerly) suave dudes in 80’s pastel suits at Marouda’s suggestion. Hopefully I’ll get those done in January, but they could well bleed into February or March due to some other projects that I’m working on at the moment….

Still, before I get to posting those, I’ve got to get the rest of December photographed and posted up…

Painting all those walkers and other Zombies in November got a bit mentally taxing, so I took a break to paint something a little different – some Zombie Survivors! In this case it was half of the cast from the Night of the Living Dead edition of Zombicide, which I backed on Kickstarter some time ago. We’ve played through the campaign twice (I think) now, and since all of the character skills are either the same or compatable with Zombicide 1st Edition (and probably Second Edition as well) I decided awhile back that I’d prep the figures to paint at some stage. That time came in late November, and they tuirned out to be a pleasure to paint – so the one quickly turned into five before the month ended. Nicely detailed models but without all the extra accoutrements that so many models seem to have.

Since NotLD is a black and white film, the artists at CMoN filled in the palette of the characters’ clothing. They went for an overall shared palette of blues, beiges and pink/salmon across the ten survivors from the game and one small expansion box – so I basically just followed that. Judy’s got the whole double-denim thing going here, but it’s not her fault. Probably. I still hate painting OSL, so I did a simple job on Harry and his mason jar. Hopefully it looks decent while not being too garish or too subtle. I did enjoy the opportunity to practise my work on painting hair on these figures, and it’s something I’m still slowly improving on.

Anyway – this is the final individual post for November, so expect the belated Round-Up in a couple of days, then followed by the first of December’s models shortly afterwards (and yes – there are some Zombicide models in there!)
