C23 Citadel Oldhammer Ogre Warrior Priest Redux (Jes Goodwin, 1985)

C23 Citadel Ogre Warrior Priest (Jes Goodwin, 1985)

A quick “bonus” post today – this ogre is one I’ve had since the late 1980’s or very early 1990’s, started painting several years ago, and then finally went back to and restarted from scratch last year, “finishing” it then. I was never entirely happy with the model, though. In the post, I wondered aloud if I should have taken the extra time to add a very simple “1980’s WWF Roddy Piper” tartan-like pattern to his skirt. Both Faust and Kuribo suggested that it would look good, so instead of going into a case or onto the shelf, he went back onto a corner of the painting desk to wait.

For a year.

So in August, I finally forced myself to finish his kilt and get the thing off my desk finally. And here he is.

Complete.

Finally.

Zombicide Survivors “Brad” (Clint Eastwood as “Dirty” Harry Callahan) & “Julien”

And now we’re into the final parts of August’s models, with one model in this Zombicide two-post having being finished in August and the other more recently in September.

Zombicide Survivors "Brad" (Clint Eastwood as "Dirty" Harry Callahan)

The newer of the two is “Brad”, who is clearly Zombicide’s take on Dirty Harry Callahan. He’s dressed in the brown suit from the film in the artwork though his jacket on the model buttons up on the wrong side. His .44 Magnum may also be somewhat on the comically large side, but then again, this is Zombicide, not a documentary on the making of Dirty Harry, so an element of exaggeration is fine.

aaand.. there’s just sonething about that pose above. I can’t quite put my finger on where I’ve seen it before. It’s like they were going for a certain look if the figure was viewed from a specific angle…

Here?

…or here?

Anyway.

I did paint the model in the muted brown that the model’s artwork and the film use, and the character looks like an interesting one to start the game with. Marouda actually drew this character for our next game that we should be playng tonight – and thanks to all the well-wishes, she’s feeling much better – if feeling a little unfit from almost 2 weeks of isolation – so it will be seen if Dirty Harry here is as impressive ingame as he is in the film (that we recently watched!)

Zombicide Angry Neighbors Survivor "Julien 'Shoogoo' Le Jeune"

The second model is “Julien”, who is a (sort of) original character from Season 3’s Angry Neighbors expansion. Julien’s character is based on another of the “I am Legend” Kickstarter backers who paid a princely sum to have themselves included/immortalised in the game as a playable character.

As with several of the other “I am Legend” characters I’ve painted over time, this model feels a little over-designed compared to others, and the fact that it’s based on a paying backer really explains that aspect. Not that I dislike the model, but the busier they get, the more painful they can become to paint – especially when you need to do both a Suvivor and a Zombivor version of each and have all the bits match up!
