Zombicide Rue Morgue: Zombie Skinner Walkers, Part 1

Zombicide Rue Morgue: Zombie Skinner Walkers

Last post for March – and actually we’ve got some April in here as well since I’m so behind.

The first sub-batch came out a little samey – the pants on our pink puffer jacket trio were supposed to be a bit more distinct than the final outcome, but once I’ve got more of these painted (there are SO many of these to paint) it’ll be fine. I also found one more standard walker who I’d missed, so he got painted as well.

These walkers – both the pink-jacket ones and these ones are the “Skinner” Zombies from Rue Morgue. In game terms a “kill” can sometimes result in them becoming “crawlers” instead of simply being removed. The setting is a post-Zombie Outbreak Hospital, so when trying to work out a way of distinguishing yet another sub-type of zombies, I decided to go with a hospital-green floor for my Skinners. It also combines nicely with the blood effect paint, which was a nice little plus to find.

I painted these ones as Hospital Orderlies, hence the dark blue-green clothing. Other models will be painted as staff and patients where I can manage to make them look as such. You’ll also notice that these mdoels have t-shirts, so I’m throwing it open to blog readers for some more suggestions. I do have to point out that these ones are REALLY small – even compared to previous batches of t-shirt-wearing zombies, so complicated patterns and logos just aren’t going to work on these. There’ll be another set of zombies after I finish these ones who are largely looking for metal/goth/punk t-shirts when I get to the Seekers from Angry Neighbours.

This last sub-batch of Zombies are from this month (April), and as noted got thrown into this post because… well… it’s pretty obvious. I also have the first four of the crawlers here as well.

The table where I usually photograph my round-ups is largely covered by another WIP project at the moment, so I’ll likely just keep posting into April’s models and then catch up on the round-up when I have a bit more space later on.

Back to Zombicide today. We’ve got another pair of “inspired by” Survivors and their Zombivor counterparts – Specifically their versions of Ash and Jack (or “here’s Johnny!”)

Ash was one of the bonus survivors from Season 1, so took a little while for me to aquire. The model is pretty straightforward, and exactly the type of figure I enjoy painting sometimes. Just a simple and straightforwardly attired figure with decent proportions (well, not the shotgun hand, but most of the rest of him!) Turns out I also have the Ultimate Survivors version of Ash to get painted at some stage as well as an alternate version from another company.

The second model is Jack Nicholson’s character from The Shining. Not quite as nicely sculpted, but it still does the job and will be completely fine on the table. Another pretty straightforward paint job as it’s based on a film character rather than being an outlandishly dressed original character or one based on a backer – both of which tend to be overdressed and overgeared with the later 1st edition stuff. There’s also a bit of Jack’s “Joker” in these sculpts. I mean, it’s obviously the same actor, but it really comes out on the zombie sculpt, though it perhaps looks even more like Heath Ledger’s joker.

That’s all for today’s post!
