Just a simple one for today – another model that I’ve had floating around on the desk for way too long that I finally completed – the portal from Mantic Games’ Terraincrate Wizard’s Tower.
I gave away a ton of the Terraincrate stuff from the Kickstarter that I backed, due to a combination of models that I knew I’d never paint and them being in warped, bendy PVC that I just don’t have the patience for these days (hello Reaper Bones!) – especially with Flippy here now…
I just kept a relatively small amount of the Terraincrate stuff in the end, and it’s all in the kind of “I’ll get to it when I get to it, if I get to it” range of importance. This one is one of the more interesting (to me) pieces, and as shown in these pics with the other models, I can see some potential for it in games, even as just a flavour piece with no rules attached.
That’s it for today – see you tomorrow (probably!)

Simple piece, but executed perfectly mate.

Thanks Dave – another one I’m very happy to have ejected from the desktop!
Is SoS June-August, or August-September? I can’t recall, though Winter starts here on the first of June, so I’m kind of deciding if I should finish a batch of terrain in the next few days or “cheat” and put the finish to them on Sunday instead! 😉

Starts on the 1st of July and runs until the end of August, so would get all the priming done as soon as possible ! LOL

Haha! I’m going through SO much filler primer these days it’s crazy!

That image of Doctor Doom in front of the portal is just about perfect, I reckon. It fits his character like a glove! 🙂 Its a shame that Mantic’s terrain isn’t better as it was pretty ground breaking when it came out or at least I think so anyway. The quality of the plastic aside, the portal came out really well and I like how you painted the “magic” portion in particular!

Yeah, I was looking around the display shelves for some figurs that woould work with the portal and grabbed the elf, then remembered Doom and he certainly fit perfectly.
Once Resin printing becomes a bit more straightforward (less messy, more like the Bambulab printer I have as far as simplicity of settings, etc) I’ll probably pick up a resin printer as well, though I believe I’ll only run it occasionally due to the toxicity. Between that and Flippy I’ll have unlimited awesome scenery of any detail level without any need for Mantic’s mediocre or even GW’s overly-pricey efforts again.

That’s come out really well! 🙂 Looks spot on with the figures in front of it!

Thanks John. Sometimes simple is all you need, thankfully!
