Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion: Toxic Walkers Pt.3

Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion: Toxic Walkers

Another batch of Toxic Zombies from Zombicide today. The last of the female sculpts, and not what I’d call my favourite of them – but they’ll do as fodder for the boardgame table.

If the last set was supposed to be Zombie Strippers or Zombie Streetwalkers – or (as suggested in the comments) Zombie Nightclubbers, and I dubbed the first batch to be Zombie Karens, these ones are “Toxic Femininity” with their cutoff jeans in a Daisy Duke style, string bikini tops and long sports socks and runners. They kind of remind me of some of the Zombies on the Sunset Strip in the Teaser trailer for Dead Island 2.

Either way, it’s a weird clothing combo – and again I scratch my head at the weird French guys who think Sexy Zombies should be a thing – but at least all the green skin showing makes them easy to spot on the table as the Toxic type. This leaves me with only(!) 36 more Toxic Walkers to go, and at that point all of my Toxic Zombies will be painted. I’m already working on the next batch! Not because I’m enjoying them, but because I want them to be over and done with – and there’s only one way to get there…

Back to the Toxic Zombies from Zombicide today. I do have to say that these models have become a complete grind. Something to knuckle down on and get done, segment by segment. I still have 36 more Toxic Walkers and 9 more Toxic Runners to wade through in the next couple of months.

These particular walkers fall into a trope that’s simply weird to me – that of the “sexy zombie”. Looking at how they’re dressed, I guess they’re supposed to be either Zombie Strippers (a movie I am still yet to watch) or Zombie Streetwalkers. I went for the former, at least mentally. Regardless, the fur-lined vests and tiny bikinis meant that these were a right pain it the arse to paint, even at the lower stanard that I set for zombie models.

I guess they’re done now and that’s what’s most important. I also found another Zombie Karen on the floor, no doubt knocked off the table by Leonard at some stage, so she got painted as well at the tail end of this batch.

This set of models not only qualify for Dave Stone’s current Paint Whatchoogot Challenge for 23-4 as well as being my first models that qualify for Fembruary ’24. Because women can be faceless undead drones to be blasted and smashed through by our heroes just as well as men can!
