Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion: Toxic Walkers Pt.4

Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion: Toxic Walkers

Into the final stretch of Toxic Zombies! We’ve got the first batch of the boys. Naturally, we have no skimpy underwear here – just torn pants and torn t-shirts. I guess there’s that hint of alluiring tighty-whities peeking over the top of their pants in the rear, but other than that, no sign of “sexy zombies” at all for these boys!

Following up from the three different sculpts of female Toxic walkers, we have the first of the three male sculpts – with these ones being the ones I judged as the simplest ones to paint, since they only have pants and t-shirts, while both the other sculpts also have jackets. More layers, you see equals more paints and more care needed. With these being simpler, I was able to get them from base-painted to finished over the course of this last weekend.

I would have liked to open these ones up for more t-shirt nominations, and I would have done so if not for the huge tear down the front of this sculpt’s t-shirt, which kinda wrecks any kind of print, and makes them  more trouble than they’re worth for something that would be obscured. I have a couple of them a hint of a print, but really didn’t put much effort at all into them, just enough to imply that some logo or another might be on them.

With these eight done, I’ve got 18 left to go for the Toxic remainders. I’ve started working on them, so the bases are done, and I’ve started on their pants. At some point I’ll probably break them up into two more batches based on sculpt (10 and 8) to get them finished. I’d originally hoped to get a batch done each month, but now I’m wondering if I can get a batch of these bastards done each week instead so I can get these over and done so we can get the expansion onto the tabletop…

Marvel Zombies: Jessica Jones and Callisto

Marvel Zombies: Jessica Jones and Callisto

Another pair of models from the Marvel Zombies Kickstarter haul today. We have Jessica Jones from the Defenders, also known from the Netflix series (that I haven’t yet watched) and Callisto from the X-Men rogues gallery. Jessica is a hero-suvivor with no Zombie counterpart, and Callisto is a “Bystander”, so effectively a hybrid of an NPC and a piece of gear – in her case, allowing her rescurer to ignore the usual targeting priority rules. I know very little about Jessica, except that she’s really tough and/or strong because… reasons? Like a female Luke Cage? I could look it up, I guess, or watch the show. Probably easier to let Faust and Kuribo weigh in with their knowlege of both characters instead! 😀

Callisto I know only a little more about. I’ve read some X-Men comics with her in them in the past and I do recall that she’s the leader of the Morlocks, a group of originally-named (mutants?) who live underground. I seem to feel like she’s a frenemy of the X-Men – but I guess that applies to pretty much everyone who they’re crossed paths with over the years, from Magneto, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, White Queen, Sabretooth…. have any of their mortal enemies also not been members of the various X-clans?

Painting this pair was pretty straightforward, though Jessica’s over-involved base made her take longer than she really should have. I think she’s also standing over a grate that is trying to do a Marilyn Monroe with her leather jacket, which I lined with red to add a little colour to what would have otherwise been quite a drab figure. She certainly kicks arse in the game, though!
