It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted – so today we’re going through some of the first things I managed to complete in March, starting with a few more posts featuring printed terrain.
These buildings are all paid-for STLs from Wargame Forge over on MyMiniFactory. More generic buildings than the more 40k-oriented ones with arched windows, we have a nice and simple enough mini-set of smaller buildings.
We have three sizes of these buildings in the basic set, and I also picked up the damaged and destroyed versions of them so I can do the “stages of destruction” thing with them aagain. Starting with the largest one – the Papa Bear…
Next up we have the middle size – the Mama Bear, if you will…
And then finished off with the smallest widdle Baby Bear!
Me being me of course, I printed (and eventually painted) multiples of each of these buildings. The way I see it is thast it makes sense given the fact that I’m paying for these fiules, so I may as well get more use out of them! Even only doing two of each, I’ve ended up with a substantial number of these things with 18 buildings in various states of damage in total.
Me being me of course, I also managed to screw something up and printed one too many of the middle damaged building instead of one of the smallest damaged building, which I only realised when doing the final steps of painting where I was going through and pair-painting final touches (interior walls of the damaged buildings). Which is of course bloody annoying, but given the specific spraying and paint-mix steps I went through putting these together, and how much of a pain it then becomes, I think I’ll just have to deal with and live with this particular logistics issue.

Excellent work on all three types of building, they will make effective hab blocks or offices, shame on the extra damaged mid building, I guess if you ever decide to do more, you can correct the mistake then.

Yeah, just a minor annoyance. The problem is that if I decide to “fix” it with my OCD, I’ll end up printing an extra one of each building so I have three of each type so the extra one I’ve got here isn’t “wasted”, and then I’ll decide that I like even numbers better so it’ll be two of each and then I’ll have another 18 of these things to paint while trying to match the ones above! (and more importantly – not spending that time painting other models!)

Does the rubble round the bottom come as part of the file for printing, or did you add that?

Thanks mate – nope, the rubble is part of the file – All I needed to do was paint it!

What scale are these? 5mm, 15mm??

They’re 6mm/1:300 roughly. I increased the file size slightly to 120% from memory. You could easily bump the scale up for 15mm though.

I finished these a little while ago, but yeah I definitely am as I’ve seemingly done nothing but paint in windows the last 4 days on another pair of buildings!

Great work on these, mate. I think you’ve got the different variations covered now and that’s awesome to be able to have buildings in different states. Its good to see you’re feeling better and staying productive hobby wise too 🙂

Thanks mate – sick again (I hate this transitional weather!) but pushing on and staying super busy. Hopefully I can get some more hobby stuff finished soon as well! 😮
