Fallout February – Barrels (Imitation of Life 3D Prints)

Barrels (Imitation of Life 3D Prints)

A quick one today – some barrels I 3D printed several months ago that I got from Imitation of Life’s Patreon several years ago. While that sculptor seems to have taken a break from Patreon these days, I found what appears to be at least two of these sculpts for free over on MyMiniFactory in a sample STL set. Seeing how they came out, I can certainly recommend them!

I’d sprayed them and they were prepped for painting for some time, but it wasn’t until Thursday when I managed to do some blog reading that I saw Kuribo was doing a “Fallout February” thing that I decided to kick it into gear, starting these Thursday evening and then finishing them, spraying them and photographing them Friday morning as I had a day off work. Sure, they’re not specifically Fallout models, but they fit the setting and I’ll even go so far as to say that the colour chosen is close enough to one of the barrels in Fallout 76, easily one of the Fallout games of all time.

Not that these are particularly unique, but I mirrored them when I printed them so I could get a few more onto the plate and also have a small bit of variation, though only the set with fallen barrels manages to have any actual variation. Still – better than a complete repeat!

They’re a good fit for Post-Apoc games, and will work as barricades for Zombicide, though they’re a bit small for games like 40k and Crisis Protocol, especially with the tall bases many of these figures stand on. I’ve upscaled a set of these as well, but not yet printed them yet. These are of course, February models, and so these queue jumpers have gotten slightly in front of some January pieces that Kuribo will also be interested in.

As they were printed months ago, they also fit in with with Dave Stone’s Paint What You Got Challenge 24-25. As will the next half-dozen (at least) posts!

Archon Studios Dungeons and Lasers: Woodhaven – Stretch Goals – Outhouse & Furniture

First up – Happy New Year to everyone!

I haven’t painted anything from my Dungeons and Lasers Woodhaven Kickstarter pledge in some time now. These pieces in fact were painted in November or December, and are in the round-up I recently posted, and so for the sake of my own completeness, here they are.

These were originally started as part of Dave’s Season of Scenery challenge, as supplemental pieces to a larger one. As it turned out, I didn’t get these finished in time, and the larger piece is also still unfinished. We’ll see if I can get that rectified soon(ish!)

So we have a animal pelt for the floor, a couple of desks and a small chest of drawers. Almost all you need for a small medieval or fantasy office space

Next, as you can see, we have an outhouse, a standing cupboard with shelves and a bed. I painted the bed with muted colours that could hopefully work for both nobles or guards, or at least a guard captain.

I wanted the “indoor” wood to look laquered, or at least varnished and somewhat cared for and so the outside outhouse wood is both darker, but with a slightly more “bleached”, lighter highlight to represent dried out wood exposed to the elements.

That’s it for today – hopefully I can start getting December’s models photographed and posted before too long!
