Cthulhu: Death May Die – Ghouls

Cthulhu: Death May Die - Ghouls Painted Miniatures, Cthulhu Mythos Ghouls

I haven’t gotten a ton of models painted since my procedure in the middle of the month, but I have spent some time doing more work on getting stuff done. These five Ghouls from Cthulhu: Death May Die were the first things that I managed to get painted afterwards, Investigators painted for the month.

I mean, they’re pretty simple/straightforward models. They did have some shockingly-placed mold lines that I did my best to scrape away, and while I do appreciate Adrian Smith’s art, this design is pretty meh. Like, it’s totally fine, but not much else. So the bar for these was across-the-board, pretty much in the middle.

So while I do like to challenge and stretch myself on occasion, I also very much enjoy low-stakes, low-stress models that simply need to look good enough on the tabletop. These are very much that! They were a good way to ease back into painting, and so on that basis alone they more than made up for any shortcomings.

And to copypasta myself – Because the Cthulhu Mythos are all about World-Ending situations (in the end), I’ll nominate these for Dave Stone’s Apocalypse Me challenge, with a few more posts yet to come in that vein… (well, one for sure, perhaps a second depending on Dave’s judgement…)

Marvel Zombies: Heroes’ Resistance & Core Set: Vision & Blind Al

Marvel Zombies: Heroes' Resistance & Core Set: Vision & Blind Al

Another pairing from the Marvel Zombies: Heroes Resistance board game as well as the “full” game – Marvel Zombies – this time we have Vision from Heroes’ Resistance and Blind Al from the Core Set.

Marvel Zombies: Heroes' Resistance - Vision

I have to admit, I wasn’t aware of White Vision until recently – not because of Wandavision, but seeing the painted Marvel Crisis Protocol Vision model painted in white deco – most likely from someone in this blogging circle – but apologies, I can’t recall who it was. Then seeing that White Vision was a thing in the comics, and then later in Wandavision. This is another model for the list of ones that are tricky to photograph. White with subtle shading and pearlescent paint? Yeah, not great for my limited photography skills.

Marvel Zombies: Heroes' Resistance - Vision

Since Vision is a duplicated hero for me – with a figure in the Heroes’ Resistance set as well as from somewhere in the mass of Kickstarter boxes, I wanted to paint them with some differentiation. On top of that, one of the Survivor cards has an ability called “Hologram”(they have different powers) – so for me that fit for this figure with his “floating over there” pose. So now we can use this model as Vision, or (once the other one is painted) we can also use it as the in-game hologram (basically, a decoy dummy).

Marvel Zombies Core Set: Blind Al

The second model for this post is “Blind Al”. Not being a reader of the comics, I hadn’t realised that she was also race-swapped for the film series in the same was as Domino until painting this figure. Thankfully she’s not a character I’m invested in so I can still enjoy the film without getting annoyed or upset.

Marvel Zombies Core Set: Blind Al

Al was pretty straightforward to paint and was actually quite enjoyable. She was started and finished in the same day on the first of October. I don’t have a whole lot else to add to that really, though it was fun to add a little purple rinse into that grey hair! She’s one of the civilian characters in the game so when playing in Hero Mode the players want to save them while in Zombie Mode you want to just gobble them all up!

Since these two are from a Zombie Game (hey Joe…) I guess that they qualify for Dave Stone’s Apocalypse Me 2023 challenge as well.
