And we’re back after a brief Christmas pause with another Desert terrain unboxing/review. I may actually post these reviews with a higher frequency than my painted models since these posts are much more things I’m throwing out there for people who may be looking for info on these sets in the future rather than updates on my own personal hobbying for the regular readers in the little community that we have here – so they don’t need a couple of days to let people “digest” my wonderful work. 😛

As always, the point is really to give people a good solid look at what you get in the boxes as there’s not a lot out there aside from the glamour shots on the box and GF9 website when you’re looking around to see what you get and how it all looks.

Once again, we have a standard “cereal box” thickness outer box with a cardboard reinforcement around the inside of the box, and then the actual terrain piece taped inside some bubble wrap.

…aaaand unwrapped. The top floor roof section is inverted for protection and placed in the cavity.

“Properly” assembled. I’ve photographed it here alongside the Damaged Large Desert House on the right – they’re basically two variations of the same sculpt as you can clearly see here.

Here’s the exploded breakdown of the three sections that make the building. Once again the interior is simply painted a plain black, which is slightly disappointing. Not especially hard to resolve, but still not completely ideal.

Showing the interior and rooftops with FoW infantry stands in place, so you can see how many fit. Three in the ground floor, 1 inside in the first floor and one on the landing, and one on the roof.

And to finish, another scale shot alongside some vehicle and infantry models.

Given the intent of this review, which is to provide some images and simple thoughts on a set that I was unable to find any information on online aside from box pics, I’m not going to “score” the set. I purchased it myself from an online retailer and while it wasn’t exactly cheap, even compared to GW’s plastic offerings, I’m happy enough with this one, even despire the black interior. I’m going to grab a second one shortly, once the mail order place I’ve been buying them from comes back after their Christmas/New Year’s break.

As always with these things – with a small amount of effort this building could be made to look a fair bit better. I wonder if we’ll see a post on those lines soon?
