Zombicide Survivors “Oksana” (Milla Jovovich as Alice from Resident Evil: Extinction) & “Thaissa” (Bridget Fonda as Maggie Hayward from Point of No Return)

Zombicide Survivors "Oksana" (Milla Jovovich as Alice from Resident Evil: Extinction) & "Thaissa" (Bridget Fonda as Maggie Hayward from Point of No Return)

And another pair of Zombicide models! This time we have a pair of survivors that hit two of the month’s themes – Dave Stone’s Paint Whatchoogot Challenge for 23-4 and Fembruary.

Zombicide Survivor "Thaissa" (Bridget Fonda as Maggie Hayward from Point of No Return)

We have Thaissa, who I’ve read is based on Janet Fonda’s character in Point of No Return (aka The Assassin) – which is a remake of Luc Besson’s La Femme Nikita. While I have seen Nikita, I have not seen PoNR.

Stills I found online had her in a black dress rather than this teal number, but then again the stills were mostly promo images so I don’t know if she wears something like this at some stage. Regardless, since I’ve not seen the film, and we already have “Proxy-Ivy” who is based on Angelina Jolie from Mr. and Mrs. Smith (aka woman in black dress) and the long gloves it made my choice easy enough.

Because of all of the above, I just went with the card art, as it’ll be much easier to identify on the table (especially if both Ladies are drawn as survivors in the same game).

Zombicide Survivor "Oksana" (Milla Jovovich as Alice from Resident Evil: Extinction)

The second of today’s survivors is clearly Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil: Extinction. I hesitate to even give it the “based on” or “inspired by” disclaimers here! I’ve only seen a couple of these films at best – I’ve definitely seen the first and maybe the second? Ive certainly not seen Extinction, though. This figure was one that I’ve just been putting off painting for literally years. Why? Look at that outfit! Belts and straps and buckles and pouches and more straps and..  and to be honest, it’s the sort of mid-phase CMoN figure that probably looked amazing as a digital sculpt, but ended up with reeeallly shallow and fine details when turned into an actual tabletop model. I mean, I get it – this is how she appears in the film (except for the gunblades – they should be machetes).

But yeah. So credit entirely goes to Alex and Fembruary for this one, since I wanted to have another female Survivor model to pair with Janet – so I just knuckled down and gave Milla a rough paintjob – which works in this case due to the context of her rough, dirty outfit. And with that, another two survivors join the Zombicide roster!

  1. Both look excellent mate, haven’t seen the first film you mention, so couldn’t say what colour dress she wears, but with what you say about having a lady in a black dress already, going with the card art was the right call. I have seen extinction, and your quick approach has made it look very much like the movie as she spends most of it dusty and dirty ! LOL agree that the gun blades are a strange addition, but it should be a pair of Kukri knives, the same as the Gurkha’s use.

    • Cheers Dave – I’ll have to watch a bunch of RE movies in a batch at some stage, but I don’t think I have it in me right now to watch another whole pile of mediocre films! 😀

The gunblades are a Zombicide weapon, and the model is entirely unlicenced so it makes sense to me that they were replaced. Tha game has both Kukris and Machetes, but either of those may have ended up a bit too on the nose…

  2. Resident Evil is definitely a franchise worthy of the Zombicide treatment! I’ve never seen the movies myself but I can’t get enough of the video games 🙂 I need to get a PS5 so I can finally play Village and RE4 Remake…

Back to the minis, I like the dress color a lot and can see what you mean on Milla. She looks like the Fallout raiders in many ways. These are great additions to your formidable Zombicide collection!

    • Thanks mate – that’s always the problem, isn’t it? Too many games and not enough time! I’ve been dipping in and out of Helldivers over the past week or so now.

Her outfit in that film (or at least this part) is very Fallout-Compatible for sure!

  3. I’ve seen Point of No Return, but don’t recall the dress. You called her “Jane Fonda” in the post itself. 😉 Bridget Fonda didn’t have a very long career, which is too bad. We’re here for the minis though, right?! I think they both look good! Especially the color choice for the evening dress.

    • Ah! I think we can call that one an obvious typo to make. Though apparently her full name is Bridget Jane Fonda, so akshully… 😉

I don’t know much about her at all, don’t know if I ever saw anything with her in it – so cheers on the model comments! 🙂

      • Oh really, didn’t know her middle name was ‘Jane”! She is the niece of the actress Jane Fonda, so there is a relation. As far as the Point of No Return movie, it was a remake of the Professional. (La Femme Nikita), but not as well done. Very late 80s/early 90s cinema. It did have Harvey Keitel in it, playing a similar role to what he played in Pulp Fiction. But overall, I don’t think you missed much!

      • Yep, I knew both of those things (relation and Nikita) despite never having seen the film, or indeed, anything of Bridget’s that I’m aware of!

I have seen the original Nikita, though – great film, but I do like Luc Besson!

  4. It’s a relief not to feel at fault for not having seen the films which inspired the characters: we notice that we are in good company after all… (and perhaps R might even have absentmindedly seen one of the Resident Evils, despite remembering very little of it).

The colours seem right to us and create a nice contrast between the elegant blue evening dress of the first character and the brown survival outfit of the second one. We certainly don’t envy you all those sketchy details in Jovovich’s mini

    • Well, even with top-tier films there are so many of them to have caused a backlog if you don’t make time to watch many on a regular basis (hence my own backlog!) i have to admit that I’m quite happy with how Jovovich’s model came out given how the unpainted version looked!
