Waitwut? Well, in this post we have two Spidey Sculpts, one from the Marvel Zombies: Heroes Resistance board game which is a cut-down, retailer-friendly version of the “full” game – Marvel Zombies – which is where the second sculpt of Spidey here is from.
The two versions of Spidey here actually come with different stat cards, so they actually play a little differently. I went with the traditional Spidey costume for the first version (as I started painting it months and months ago) and then decided to go with an alternate scheme for the second version, loosely based on the black-and-gold suit from No Way Home. I did try to paint the suit with black panels with gold lines, but it’s veeeeery difficult compared to the black lining you can see on the red-and-blue, and I decided that the solid gold still looked pretty good, so…
I still actually have two more Spideys for this game to paint down the line – another of the Black and Gold sculpt as well as the “Artists Box” sculpt, so plenty more canvas for additional Spider-variations. Not to mention all the Crisis Protocol Spideys….
This leaves me with four more models left to complete the Heroes’ Resistance box – Hulk, Wasp, Vision and Zombie Wanda. Another target to try to complete before the end of 2023! In the meantime, September’s posts roll on…

Both look excellent to me mate, and two great looking versions of Spidey. Lucky there are so many variants of the character, to keep painting all the other versions you have.
Shame you finished these in September, as i would have counted them for Apocalypse me, as they are from the zombie versions.

It won’t be a problem, Dave – I’ve got SO many Zombicide models from various versions on the go that it won’t make a huge difference, Not to mention a few other genres that lines that can qualify… 🙂

Thank you, IM! I’m just glad that semi-experimental costume paint fail worked out in the end. 😄

Nice work on Spideys! I think the hardest part (at least for me) would be getting the right Red and Blue to work together. Then there is all those lines, which I’ve heard comic artists complain about as well! 😉

The red and blue combo I found reasonably easy, especially after I did some googling and found so many variations for the traditional costume on both colours over the years.
The webbing lines were a right pain in the backside though!

Spider-Man definitely has a versatile costume design. I’m with everyone else, I really dig the black and gold. I am hoping that they release more Spidey models so we can see what other color schemes you can come up with/utilize 🙂

Thanks mate I do appreciate that. The interesting dilemma will be that all of the future sculpts will be based on the traditional suit down to embossed webs and spider logos while some of the most interesting variations vary and change those elements.
Next Spidey will be another traditional one from MCP however, so the variant costumes will be a later on problem…

I can see what you mean. I hope that Atomic Mass Games wises up and makes some variants for the heck of it. I think people will buy those up for characters like Spider-Man.

And Miles.
And Gwen.
And Venom (Brock)
And Venom (Flash)
