Small Scenics: Archon Studios Ramparts – “Kazumi Altar”

Archon Studios Ramparts - Kazumi Altar

Another quick bit from the Archon Studios “Ramparts” terrain Kickstarter – a little plastic Altar from the extras package of the “Kazumi” style. These came alongside the stairs that I painted recently, and as such, I do have another pair of these sitting to one side. I didn’t paint all three because, well, how many altars do you need at once? And more pertinantly, it’s very much the kind of small piece that’s perfect for incorporating into larger terrain pieces. So I’ve kept them aside for that very purpose in the future. It was pretty smooth, so I used the Liquid Greenstuff trick to give it just a little bit of texture, and painted it up quick and easy, with a little bit of both dirt and moss/mold as well as some faded bloodstains in the central channels. Reiksgard Knight provides us with scale, and we’re done!

    • Yep, that’s the plan. I used some rusty reds to give that impression. My standard “sandstone” method is pretty much the same way I paint bone – starts with Vallejo Bonewhite, wash with Vallejo GC Leather Brown/Citadel XV-88, depending on how dark some of the depths are, maybe some VGC Scorched Brown – then drybrush back up with Bonewhite, then VGC Elfic Flesh, then VGC Offwhite.
There are a bunch of the colours and alternatives shown here.
