February 2023 Monthly Round-Up + “Paint What You Got” 2023 Challenge Round-Up

Ah, February. A month where I didn’t get much painted due to a whole bunch of factors. Work being immensely stressful, several heatwaves that always seemed to be scheduled around the weekends as the AC has been D.O.A. and a little misunderstanding between Leonard and myself that left my hand pretty messed up for a few weeks… So I wasn’t posting, painting or following others real well for a little while there…

So in the end, I wrapped up February with 5 pieces of pretty simply-done terrain, and only 6 models painted. A pitiful 11 pieces completed, all up.

They do all count towards Dave Stone’s current Paint what You Got challenge, along with the models I completed at the end of Dec through to January.. I even took a special photograph of the December batch at the time…

So my 2023 as of the end of February is 38 models from January and a mere 11 from February. March already has more models done – and I’ll be onto posting those in a couple of days, as I’ve already started to finish models for Monster March over at Swordmaster’s blog – Path of an Outcast.

  1. Ouch!
I mean, you are taking the sacrifices to dark painting gods too far. You don’t need to do that!!
No, seriously, you’ve done more than a meritorious job, even without the… ahem… setbacks!

  2. Wow, those are some serious wounds, mate. I hope you’re feeling better! You may not have gotten done as much as you hoped but what you did finish was quality. …Or at least that’s what I tell myself most months 😉

  3. Don’t fret, because everything is relative: if Leonhard had been a panther, the total would have been zero (not just for February, we fear); and eleven pieces painted in one month would be a positive record if your name was Rodor…

  4. With the size of the scenery pieces I would say you still managed a lot in a difficult month mate, and is Leonard a reincarnation of Freddy Kruegar !

  5. Oh the joys of cat ownership! been there mate, I still have a faint scar on my wrist from one of our earlier felines. 😉 However the models you produced in Feb are as stunning as always, I bet you’ve forgiven Leonard too.

    Cheers Roger.

    • Oh yeah, I had to put work into apologising to him the next morning, since he was still a little shaken/dubious. I’ve got a nice (not so) little collection of scars all over my right hand and wrist now…

  6. Saying that cats can inflict some nasty wounds is a bit of an understatement, and I can speak from experience as well! A tetanus jab and antibiotics are a must have! Hope you and Leonard both recover from the experience (cats are good at holding grudges)! As always, a nice haul of finished minis for the month! 🙂

  7. Damn man, that’s some serious wounds. Did he sink his teeth in as well, or just scratches? The worst was when I tried to give my brothers adopted stray cat a bath. I’ve been successful with that in the past, but he didn’t want to have a go with it. Shredded both arms, but I managed, haha! Great looking minis and it’s amazing that you still powered through!
