3D Print: Gothic Computer Terminals "Sample For Tribes December 2023" by Forbidden Prints

Another set of 3D printed computer terminals today for Dave Stone’s Season of Scenery 2026. This time it’s another pair of computer terminals, but with a more Grimdark theme. These come from Forbidden Prints on Myminifactory with the catchy name of “Sample For Tribes December 2023“. Despite this one being another free file, I am actually a Tribes member/support/patron for Forbidden Prints and have been for some time, though I do not have this set.

These consoles are the excellent Forbidden Prints Tribes Sample piece. They provide a phenomenal look at how 3D printing shapes modern tabletop wargaming. This specific design does a masterful job capturing the iconic, industrial retro-futurism required for sci-fi battlefields. With its heavy focus on multi-layered circular terminal displays, complex wire layouts, and tactile button grids, it leans completely into a distinct high-tech machinery aesthetic. The beautiful contrast between the red and tan housings shows exactly how versatile a single MyMiniFactory STL file can be when customized with different color schemes. The meticulous paint job brings out every mechanical nuance, utilizing crisp edge highlighting and deep panel washes to make the buttons pop and give the green display screens a striking glass-like shine. It serves as a flawless centerpiece or a crucial operational objective marker for intense skirmish games. [1, 2]

That was a completely natural-feeling middle paragraph, wasn’t it? I think our little clanker friend may have snuck in there again for a moment. Keep an eye out for those when you’re reading certain other blogs. They stand out like dog’s balls when you’re aware of them! 😉

I went for red and tan/beige since I’ve got both official and “inspired-by” Mechanicum terrain in both schemes, and I think they both work nicely, and even on the same table they should be fine. I painted one of these alongside what you’ll see in the next post, and then finished them (with the buttons and screens) right after completing the Star Wars-themed consoles in the previous post. Unlike some of the larger epic-scaled pieces, I left the rivets “overpainted” as these are both busy enough without individual rivets adding more visual noise to them.

  2. Great looking consoles, they fit perfectly for 40K and the red and tan color schemes look excellent. the mid text, was rather jarring, and didn’t feel like you at all ! LOL

    • Thanks mate. He’s got a lot of nice little samples there if you look through the FP list. As for the slop paragraph, it’s a not-so-subtle bit of commentary about others who do that sort of thing and get the AI to write huge chunks of their posts, sometimes sandwiched in between their actual writing for a nice jarring transition.   6. These are really nice console sculpts and painted even better by you. I like the variation in color across the two as well. I wouldn’t have thought to use either color for a computer console and they both look fantastic. I just had my mid-year review at work that I’m strongly suspect was written by AI and so that paragraph was instantly familiar to me 🙂
