December of Zombies: Zombicide Survivors “Cardboard Tube Samurai” and “Union Worker #42”

Zombicide Survivors “Cardboard Tube Samurai” and “Union Worker #42”

A couple of the more interesting (in some ways) Zombicide survivors today – certainly both are on the rarer side.

Zombicide Survivors “Cardboard Tube Samurai” and “Union Worker #42”

First up we have the Cardboard Tube Samurai – a licenced model that was a KS exclusive from the very first Zombicide campaign (that I missed by a few days – in the early days of KS before $1 pledges, late pledges and pledge managers) I have managed to get hold of a few of those original exclusives over the years, though I still lack quite a few more of them. CTS was pretty easy to paint overall – my new favourite Contrast colour, Ironjawz Yellow did most of the heavy lifting.

As one of the very first ZC models, the CTS is a very simple sculpt relative to later models. I did see his conical hat as an opportunity to practise freehanding details and shading into an otherwise pretty …straightforward model. I’m pretty happy with how it worked out.

Apparently, the Cardboard Tube Samurai is the only model from the 1st edition not to have gotten a card in the second edition, due to the licencing issues with Penny-Arcade. Guess I’ll convert him myself (or find a card online) when we get to second edition. Marouda managed to get him killed in his very first outing the other day, so maybe it was fate?

The next survivor is one of two Promo survivors that were released with the Wrath of Kings game’s Kickstarter years ago. Basically, even then, CMoN knew which side of the bread that their butter was money’d on (did I mangle that metaphor badly enough?) So this Porky-Pig-Mask-Wearing-Cosplay-Motherfucker was released, alongside another – “Alyana Heska” – their backstory being that they’re a pair of gamers who love WoK so much that they were wearing their cosplay gear at a con when the Zombie Outbreak… broke out.

Anyway, while I’d hoped to have finished the pair of them, they both have a lot of fuck-about details that become more painful when attempting to replicate them across two almost-identical models – so in the end I was able to force myself to complete the simpler of the two – Untion Worker #42 here – while his partner Alyana, in her much more sophisticated cosplay outfit- still waits, part-painted, on a painting handle on the painting desk…

November 2022 – Personal Painting Round-Up – Micro Arts Terrain and lots of Zombicide!

Zombicide 1st Edition Walkers, Zombicide 1st Edition VIPs, Zombicide Night of the Living Dead, Zombicide 1st Edition Dogz, Micro Art Studios Crate Heaps, Micro Art Studios Processing Plant, Zombicide 2nd Edition Urban Legends Abomination Pack Area 51 Alien & Chupacabra

Belated Round-up for November today! In this last month I finally got these four largish Micro Arts terrain pieces off my desk and put them away out of the way, and continued to paint more Zombicide Zombies and Survivors!

Zombicide 1st Edition Walkers, Zombicide 1st Edition VIPs, Zombicide Night of the Living Dead, Zombicide 1st Edition Dogz, Micro Art Studios Crate Heaps, Micro Art Studios Processing Plant, Zombicide 2nd Edition Urban Legends Abomination Pack Area 51 Alien & Chupacabra

Another batch of Zombie Doggoes done and dusted. Still way too many more of them to go still, unfortunately!

I started to get some regular Zombie Walkers painted, though – something that had an immediate positive effect on our games of Zombicide – at this point our games are fully painted in their entirety for the fast games, and for a good chunk of time for the deeper, longer games until the numbers of spawns get out of control.

A couple of fancy, new Abominations from the 2nd Edition game. They won’t see the table for some time, but they still made for a mostly-enjoyable diversion to the other stuff I spent my tiome working on.

I also got a few more of those VIP walkers painted. Still quite a few more of those to go. I’m on the verge of completing another batch of four of these – they’d have been done if I weren’t typing this thing up – so hopefully they’ll still get finished tonight.

And of course, some survivors – the first in what felt like bloody ages – with half of the Night of the Living Dead cast completed.

edit – forgot to do this at the time – Adding up all of the models from November, I have 48, which is a good amount done, espcially for a month that was such a full-on work month. I had 469 done by the end of October so that gives me 517 from January to the end of November. Not too shabby.

I should have one or two more posts before Christmas with some of my December models. I’ve gotten a decent number painted over the ocurse of this month, but haven’t had a chance to do any photography at all yet and we’re still at work for a few more days before the break-up, so we’ll see when I have time for some more pics!
