So I was thinking to myself, I’ve been painting way too many Middle-Earth and Fantasy models lately. I really need to get back to the 15mm WWII stuff before Kuribo loses patience with this blog completely. So with that, a couple of weeks ago I got started on two boxes of German stuff that I’d wanted to get done for a few months now. The first one of those boxes was this one – a platoon of Marder III artillery pieces for my Afrika Korps force.
These weren’t too bad to paint – the biggest issue actually being all of the crewmen, since I really don’t enjoy painting 15mm infantry models.
When I was almost done, I realised that I’d not added any additional stowage to any of these kits, and that all four crews were identical. I passed on adding any stowage, but did pry off the gunner of the lead Marder to replace him with a spare (metal) standing artillery crewman, just to help distinguish the lead model a little more easily that squinting at the numbers on the sides of the models’ hulls.
And that’s pretty much it. The other kit I started alongside have turned out to have an unforeseen issue, so I’m waiting on an ebay purchase of some teeny-tiny ball bearings to rectify the problem, so I’ll get those finished up whenever my small balls arrive in the post!

I love the Marder (the II is my favourite in World of Tanks), and that gives you a great variety in German vehicles. Well done! Of course, when you have some time in a few decades, you can come back and put some unique stowage on them! 🙂

Thanks Tarmor. I have a Dicker Max here (almost) ready to paint, but it didn’t make it into the Mid-War Africa book, so I can only assume it’ll be int he Eastern Front Book. Going to wait until I can see how they’re organised before I paint it – in case I need to buy a few more!

And here I was thinking you would actually paint something fun like LOTR. Instead its more bloody tanks! I shudder to think of how many you have unpainted. It seems like you’ve painted 100 of them in the last year (which I admit, is impressive). They do look very nice and I’m sure a WWII fan like John will be glad to see them. As for me, well, we’ll see how many more I can take! 😉

I know, right? It’s been six whole days since I posted any LotR models, and here I am again, posting several days in a row of 15mm WWII stuff 😉
I probably have a couple hundred more tanks to paint, but you’ll be glad to know that these four don’t count, as they’re *akshually* SPG or Self-Propelled Guns, rather then tanks! 😀

Six days felt like an eternity to me, mate! 😀 And let’s not start getting technical. Tanks, artillery, and vehicles are all kind of the same as far as minis go 😉 You can even throw Predators, Rhinos, etc. in there and I still think my point stands 🙂

Xenomorph and Zoo Animal models?
I’ll have to remember those! You will be glad to know that (aside from finished stuff waiting to be posted up) the mix at the front of the queue has 3 LotR models, 4 Zombicide, 2 40k(ish), 4 FoW, 1 D&D and an AoS(ish) model – so assuming I actually complete those before moving to the next models, there should be something for most people to enjoy in the mix!
Though I did dig out a couple of Rhinos to work on yesterday, in fact…

Well, Kuribo’s right, it’s nice to see these! Very nicely done! 🙂 This is a Marder version that I’ve never had a model of, so good to see a few of them together!

I did eventually get lucky (after buying this metal/resin box) and find the PSC kit for sale, so they’ll be joining us when we make the jump over to the European theatre! 😀

That’s in the plans, but I feel like it might be better to finish the army first, so not sure if there’d be enough interest in the interim army shots? There’s the older one from last year when I finally completed my initial 1st ed army…
