Another Luke Skywalker today – this time the Operative version from 1st Edition Legion cast in PVC, as opposed to the recently released HIPS newer version.
As with a surprisingly large number of these PVC figures, the actor’s likeness is actually pretty solid. This Luke is certainly a better likeness of Mark Hamill than the Bespin version I painted a little while back.
Once again with these glow-stick-carriers, I’ve added a certain amount of glow-OSL from the saber – hopefully not too muchn so the figure works in a daylight outdoor setting. I really need to get onto finishing some actual grunts, though painting single one-off character models when their outfits as as straightforward as those found in (most of) Star Wars is a lot quicker, easier and less stressful.

Excellent work on Luke, the OSL is effective without being overpowering, I think this is the only version of Luke I haven’t painted or converted ! LOL

One to add to your list then, Dave! Don’t forget the subtle “closed jacket” variation and then the two “Black Luke” versions for Jabba’s Palace (cloaked & uncloaked). 😉

Thanks Alex. I’d honestly rather skip the OSL entirely, but it doesn’t feel like an option for these models, so I’m just trying to make it look ok without being overpowering.

Nice work; the sculpt is pretty good considering the scale. I initially thought that you’d gone with too much white on the lightsabre but the more I look the more I reckon you’ve done it just right.

Yeah, I could possibly have gone a little further with the green. I find painting them with this kind of abstraction so they (hopefully) look “bright” and illuminated from different angles to be pretty tricky
