Shadows of Brimstone: Slashers

Shadows of Brimstone: Slashers

Following up from the Void Sorcerers we have even more Shadows of Brimstone models. Don’t worry – we’ve got a break from these for awhile after these! These models are “Slashers”, though I keep thinking of them as Hook Horrors (I know D&D’s HHs are actually avian-inspired, not insectoid – but since I’m not a D&D guy the huge talons on these things keep beinging the name to mind.

They come from the Swamps of Death core set, and were painted as part of my attempt to try and get the core set models painted and finished (hopefully) in 2021 so we can actually try the game. The other impetus for getting started on them was Monster MAYhem (yet again). These almost got completed in June, but just slipped into the start of July, so they’re here.

The actual box comes with three, but the initial SoB kickstarter came with a set of bonus core set sprues, so I painted both sets and just did a trio each in green and in brown in case I run two sets of them for some reason down the line – and within each trio I also added some additional markings should I need to distinguish a “leader” from either group.

Once again, Chainsaw Girl Berkerly makes a cameo to help show the size of these creatures.

  1. Excellent work mate, you’ve really captured the insectoid look with your painting of their exoskeletons. The idea of painting them in two colours and adding extra detail for a leader increases their versatility

  2. Great color choices on these, mate. They look very insect-like which makes them look pretty icky. Perfect for this sort of sculpt. You gotta be getting close to being able to play Shadows of Brimstone now, right? I’m still waiting to hear what you think of it 😀
