Yes, it’s General Veers! What’s going on here of course is that we have both the 1st Edition model of Veers cast in PVC alongside the fairly new 2nd Edition Veers in HIPS plastic. Since I already had the older model but had picked up the new one, I decided to paint them together – along with The Desert General seen in my previous post.
Quite a difference between the two, eh? I can only assume that the original was an earlier sculpt in the range, as he very much has the same kind of overly “heroic scale” proportions and feel that some of the older, chunky Imperial Guard have, while the new version is much more leaning towards proportions approaching truescale – along with a much more refined pose!
As far as painting goes, all of these Veers and Veers-Adjacent models were painted using AK 3rd Gen 11154 Field Grey as the base for their green uniforms, highlighted through AK111323 RAL6040 F9 Helloliv and into AK11352 IDF Modern Grey. The armour plates are AK11133 Dark Green Grey/AK11167Anthracite Grey into AK11356 SLA Blue and then AK11011 Grey Blue. And now I can come back and check these later! 😀
New Veers kind of looks like he’s sending Old Veers off to chase down some Rebels, doesn’t he? What will I use all of these very similar General models for in the game? Not sure, yet, but it’s also really not a worry for me. I’m here just as much (or more) for the painting as I am for the gaming at this point!
See you tomorrow with another post of May’s models!

Awesome work on both versions, as for what you could do with them gaming wise, nothing stopping you having multiple generals on a board, they could be having a planning meeting, when rebels attack, and even though they wouldn’t normally be at the front (you know afraid of getting shot at ! LOL) they would still defend themselves while running for an escape pod or two ! LOL

Yeah, a lot of scenario stuff would work – not to mention the old favourite of painting and collecting enough models to run two fully independant Imperial armies! 😀

These are excellent! 🙂 For a moment I was half-expecting General Veers and Zombie General Veers though!

It makes sense considering how often that happens! I think Star Wars was the biggest missed franchise for Zombicide. I was kinda hoping for it to happen before CMON went down the gurgler – you could have regular Imperials as the enemy fodder or you could also use Thrawn’s undead troopers.
I wonder if FFG will do something with it now that they own Zombicide and have the rights to do lots of Star Wars miniatures and board games?

Both look very well painted and its interesting to see how much the sculpt changed for Veers. I can see why they bumped up the scale and I really like the second’s pose much better as it is a bit more dynamic and interesting.

Yeah, I think over the years even before changing to HIPs and now the new edition they slowly moved towards more realistic proportions. I do like the new one a lot more!

Lovely painting as always. The difference in sculpt is really marked when you show the pair of them side by side like that!

Yeah, the difference really becomes a lot more stark with them next to each other!

Very nice. The chunkier of the two actually looks like the actor who played him, which is impressive at this scale.

Thanks Frank! They really did a good job with a few of these sculpts really. In my limited experience, I’ve found the Mark Hamill ones are always impressive as well!
