And now we have what will possibly, hopefully, be the last of my Panzers for my Deutsches Afrikakorps/Panzerarmee Afrika army. Of course, that doesn’t include things like scouts, artillery, SPGs and the like (and a few extra infantry-based things like a mortar platoon) – but hopefully this will be the last of the actual tanks. With the same rationale that led me to add a number of additional Panzer IIIs to my previous force of Panzer IIIs and IVs it was time for a little bit of a rejig of the Panzer IVs. I renumbered a few of the previous tanks as well, and added in some more obvious tank commanders to this batch so as to make gameplay in FoW a bit easier as well without the need to squint and see which tank was 121 and so forth.
To start with then, three Panzer IV Ausf.F2s with the aforementioned tank commanders to take over the, well, command duties from the previous closed-top tanks. I had it all planned out in advance, though at this point I am going to need to lay them all out on the table to make sure I’ve got them all correct. Otherwise I may have to change more decals or even paint even more panzers to fill gaps.
The Panzer IV Ausf.F1s I had originally as the command platoon have been moved to a combat platoon, and these two will bring their (maximum) number to four. At least that unit is simpler to figure out!
Angle shots so the four sides can be seen!
Great looking additions mate, that has to be a very impressive looking force now, won’t ask for a group shot, as that would be an undertaking in itself, and take time away from your painting

Cheers Dave – I do actually want to get a group shot done – just need to finish a few more models first and then wait for the heat to die down so I can lay everything out.

Good stuff mate – plugging gaps & organising lists is half the fun!!

Thanks Alex! The other side grew a bit too far too fast and a lot more extensively due to the sheer number of tanks used – so I had to add some more to the DAK to balance it out a little…

Very nice! 🙂 I think the short-barrelled Panzer IVs always have a bit of character, even if they’re not great tanks!

Yeah, they get overlooked a bit, though now I have enough of them to make a nice little platoon to drop some fire support for the others. 🙂

These look very nice indeed, mate! To my eyes anyway, you’ve done a great job keeping the German tanks very consistent across several painting sessions. I reckon that’s got to be about all the unpainted tanks you’ve got left in your collection now, right? 😉

Well, these should be the last *tanks* for my *Afrika Korps* army at least…. 😀

Those look great- really like them.
You must be getting close for a full army of DAK now?
Cheers,
Pete.

Thanks Pete! I’ve certainly got a large army that can be fielded in a wide variety of configurations, but there’s still several more options I want to add for me to call it “complete” and move on from it. I am looking forward to getting there, though! 😀
