You didn’t think these D&D-themed posts would end with the final Ashardalon boxed minis, did you? There’s a bunch of these still to work through – and since we’re actively playing them, it only makes sense for me to be painting the models. So with that in mind, I’ve cracked open the boxes to both The Legend of Drizzt and The Temple of Elemental Evil and have been working on the models that looked the quickest and easiest to get done before I settle into the ones that require a bit more work. So with that in mind, here’s a yellow blob with an eyeball.

Yochlols are handmaidens of Lolth, the Spider Queen. Which should mean something to the fans of the Drizzt Do’Urden books by R.A.Salvatore. Now I’m not going to shit on them, though I understand it’s popular to do so. I read 2 or 3 of them 20-odd years ago and enjoyed them well enough as easy-to-read and enjoyable fantasy fiction. I haven’t felt compelled to chase them down again, but I barely have time to read anything for pleasure aside from the net between work, blogging and my preferred hobbies of painting and occasionally gaming. Here’s the writeup for Yochlols. To which I say “Sure, whatever. Why not?”

Painting was thankfully a doddle. Prime white, spray yellow. touch up. Contrast Nazdreg Yellow over the top, which gave those almost-cartoony-looking outlines to the sculpt. I wasn’t expecting that, but you know what? Sure, whatever. Why not? Paint the eye with a bit of care, do the base, gloss varnish. Matt varnish the base. Done!
