This post, we have my painting round-up for September. I thought given the nature of the painting that I got done over that month I’d simply wrap everything into the one post. As you can plainly see, I kept a very tight thematic focus on the month’s completed work. I’ll talk you through the models, from the viewer’s left to right.
First up, we have Frodo the Hobbit from the Lord of the Rings wearing The One Ring. Next to him, we have Sam Gamgee, Bilbo Baggins and then of course, Sméagol/Gollum, also all depicted wearing The Ring in turn. Next we have Casper the Friendly Ghost, and comtinuing the theme, the Poltergeist from the film of the same name – and continung that cinematic theme, The Invisible Man from the eponymous film, though in his shower outfit rather than the more traditional “mummy wraps and sunglasses” look. The next figure is a rare one, a WWE figure of God, from the time that Vince McMahon decided to have a wrestling match against God as part of his feud with Shawn Michaels.
So jokes aside, September was the month where I spent a lot of time dealing with some RL family issues and broke my knee, and as a result of both of those things spent a lot of time playing The Division 2. Hobby-wise, I assembled a whole lot of models but spent almost three weeks waiting on delivery of a spray paint order so I could get started on them because COVID makes the supply chains move a lot more slowly – and in the end, I simply didn’t complete the painting on a single model – even though I have a lot of models I could have just finished – as my hobby focus was really on building the kits I’d chosen to work on. That all left me with the same total in September as I’d had at the end of August – 355 for the year to date.
What no Gorilla’s in that mist?

Damn! Didn’t think of that one or I’d have added them into the list! 🙂

Had me confused until the second paragraph. Life has been like that for lots of us this year! Hope your October was better than mine, (and esp your Sept), and that you’re getting around again easily!

Thanks Tarmor. It’s been a pretty average time, although being totally off work on sick leave has been nide (well, except for checking my emails and doing a little bit remotely because… whaddayagonnado?) On balance, I’d rather be able to walk and be back at work over on a personal lockdown after everyone else is allowed outside. Still not able/allowed to walk, but another Hospital appt in 2 weeks, so just gotta see how the healing continues…

I never thought I’d be able to say this, but I can paint invisible figures as well as you, so that’s quite an achievement for me! 😉 Here’s hoping that leg heals and you can start to get back to doing things you want to do!

That’s cool, John – we should set up a painting challenge for invisible models! October was pretty decent for painting, so there’s something even if there’s a lot I still can’t do…

Getting a balance just right on invisible models, can be very tricky mate, so you’ve pulled it off brilliantly ! LOL Seriously hope you are getting better, and can get past the problems and back to painting

Cheers Dave. I didn’t get much painting done, but I did at least get a lot of model building done, as the next few posts will reveal. 🙂

Nice joke, I like it! I actually think it’s pretty cool that you took the time to document for a future-you that nothing got done in this month and wondered why.
I hope that RL issues are in hand now – good luck!

Thanks AB. I was deciding what do do about September, so I decided to note it down and have a bit of a laugh about it at the same time. 🙂 The knee is slowly getting better. I’m not there yet, and in my own personal lockdown, but at least I can keep painting!

That is Frodo is so lifelike, mate! 😀 In all seriousness, don’t sweat having a quiet month. I hope you’re able to bounce back and get back to enjoying your hobby time as your leg feels better.

Thanks Kuribo! In the end, aside from the personal and medical stuff, the model building aspect really did set up October. There’s a lot of duplication in there, but I hope you still like what I’ve got coming. 🙂

I’m still out of action, though I can at least do a fair few things sitting on my arse. Sadly, this means my arse is becoming more and more my fat arse!

Haha, well hopefully you’ll be able to burn your fat arse off soon. 😉

Hopefully! At least I’ve been forced to use my arms a lot so they haven’t atrophied or gotten flabby. Stairs are no fun when you can’t walk or even crawl up them and need to get to and from bed!

Very nice work there, is that a Tau stealth suit I don’t see at the back there? Seriously 355 for the year is damned good going, I reckon you’ve more than earned taking a painting break in September. Hope the leg is on the mend.

Oh bloody hell! When I first thought about doing this post (from bed) a Stealth suit was one of the first things I thought of. I can’t believe I forgot to include that squad in the photo! 😀 Thanks for reminding me!

Ouch, sorry to hear about your knee. That must have been ‘kin painful!

Yeah, wasn’t fun at all. Especially the long walk home after I broke it! (several days before I could get an XRay and find that it was actually broken)
